Hualien Probation Basketball Invitational 2009

The Guanhu Cup, also known as Hualien Probation Basketball, is an annual tournament organized by the Hualien County Basketball Commission. The tournament started off as a high-level local competition featuring the top-four SBL teams in 2003. The number of participating teams increased to six, the following year. From 2005 onwards, international teams had been invited to participate in this tournament to add some flavour to the competition.

Malaysia had previously participated in the Guanhu Cup in 2007.

观护杯国际篮球邀请赛，是台湾花莲县观护志工协进会所举办，长期与ESPN合作转播的国际邀请赛事。 观护杯国际篮球邀请赛前身是“观护杯全国甲一级四强菁英挑战赛”，首届在2003年举办，当届有四队参赛，2004年第二届时有六队参赛。2005年开始邀请国外球队参赛，改名“观护杯国际篮球邀请赛”，本届有八队参赛，2006年之后则扩充到十队参赛。

这是马来西亚队第二次参加这项赛会，之前在2007年也曾前往花莲参赛。
